主要从事极难化学合成医药分子的生物制造，聚焦大分子胶原蛋白及四环三萜类物质的合成生物技术及生物学功效、分子结构与功能、生物安全性等从基础研究（生物合成）——功能发现——产业化——应用的全链条研究，研究涉及新型医药原料、生物医用材料、预防医学和营养医学、新药等领域。
